While it’s structured into 6 modules, you can take as much or as little time as you need to complete them. Once you have downloaded all of the course content, you can dive straight in and begin your journey into filmmaking for beginners! The course provides all of the core material, theory, and practical exercises to help you bring your filmmaking skills to life.

Leanne encourages you to get out with your camera and start filming early to gain hands-on experience, gradually building your skills as you progress through the course. To get the most out of the course, it’s recommended to set aside time each week to practice and apply what you’ve learned. Just like when you first picked up a camera to take a photograph, the more time you invest, the quicker your progress will be!

While the course includes an introduction to camera settings, keep in mind that all camera models are different. So be prepared to research your specific camera make and model for its settings & functionality. A little extra research up front will help you get the best results from your gear.

And although the course is self-guided, you’ll still have the opportunity to submit your first film creation to Leanne for feedback, if you signed up within the early bird period.

Being able to shoot in manual mode is a pre-requisite for this course. You'll need to know about ISO, aperture and shutter speed and what each is used for.

Leanne has designed this course to teach you the basics of filmmaking, so you don't need to be an expert to get started. As long as you're passionate about filmmaking and willing to learn, you can start your journey towards becoming a great filmmaker.

Here is some basic equipment and tools that you'll need...

1. Camera: A DSLR or mirrorless is favourable.

2. Tripod (optional): A tripod is sometimes necessary to keep your camera steady while shooting but for the most part, we'll be learning using a strap for stabilisation.

3. We'll be using natural light so no artificial lighting required.

4. Video editing software: Once you've shot your footage, you'll need software to edit and piece together your shots. We'll only be using Adobe Premiere Pro throughout.

5. Computer: You'll need a computer with enough processing power and storage to handle video editing software.

Keep in mind that the equipment and tools you need will depend on the type of film you want to make and your budget. However, with just a camera and some basic equipment, you can start learning the fundamentals of filmmaking and create your own film.

On Press Record Leanne will teach you how to edit your film footage on Adobe Premiere Pro.

There are obviously other softwares out there on the market so you are welcome to look around, but the course will only cover Premiere Pro. Leanne will be unable to provide editing support on any other software. 

If you do plan to sign up to a free trial of Premiere Pro, Leanne will let you know when to start that to get the maximum amount of time out of Adobe! So don’t sign up with Adobe just yet!!
